[Abstract]
Continuing Education: the Australian Experience
The workforce of Australia is ageing and international competition and new technologies are changing the face of Australia's industries. As a result, Australia needs to continuously update the skills and knowledge of its post-compulsory educated workers so that they remain relevant to the increasingly sophisticated needs of the 21st Century workplace.
This address will examine ways in which Australia's governments have utilized continuing education to ensure that it has an educated and skilled population that provides one of the strong foundations for a strong and healthy economy as well as a socially inclusive society.
